TRICH is Award-Winning! — November 2021

At the 2021 United Solo Theatre Festival closing gala, TRICH won Audience Choice Award, and I was also honored to receive Best Actress Award. Since we were the top-selling show of the Festival, we received a total of five performances. It was a huge success from top to bottom, and I’m eager to begin looking for more opportunities to perform this piece. To stay in the loop, subscribe to our newsletter here.

Someone’s Thunder Podcast — October 2021

I had the pleasure of being a guest on the podcast Someone’s Thunder to chat all things TRICH with hosts Stephanie Klapper and Angela Pierce. We dove into the making of the play, the inspiration behind it, my love of therapy (of course), and more. The episode is out now! Listen here or wherever you get your podcasts! And don’t forget to grab your tickets to the Festival.

I wrote a play. A solo show about mental health. About my mental health and the corresponding shame that dates back to my teen years. Read the full announcement here, and come see us at the United Solo Festival this fall.

Watch the sneak peek!

This is a solo show about living with Trich. You might not know what that is, but don’t worry, I’ll tell you when you get here. You’ll meet a teenage girl with an undeniable secret that no one seems to notice, so she hides in her basement cubicle wondering if anyone will come downstairs. Whoa, did this get too dark too fast? I only have a 90-word limit for this blurb, so let me explain more succinctly that – oops, out of time. Guess I’ll have to see you there!

The Phlebotomist — July 2020

The Phlebotomist poster artwork

Thrown Stone Theatre Company
presents the U.S. Premiere of

The Phlebotomist
Written by Ella Road
Directed by Tracy Brigden
Ridgefield, CT

This production was slated to go up in July 2020. After originally being postponed to July 2021, it has now been canceled indefinitely. I eagerly (and anxiously) await when we can make theatre together again.

In a world where health, wealth, and happiness depend on one single genetic test — dictating everything from credit rating to dating prospects — phlebotomy reigns supreme. But how far will people go to beat the system? Ella Road’s provocative first play forces us to question the value we place on one another, whether knowledge really is power, and if love truly can conquer all. The Phlebotomist was a finalist for the 2018-2019 Susan Smith Blackburn prize and nominated for the 2019 Lawrence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre.

Songs from Refuge — November 2019

I asked two of the brilliant band members of Metropolitan Klezmer if they would revisit some tunes I sang in Blessed Unrest and Teatri Oda’s production of Refuge in 2019, and they graciously said yes. I feel so lucky to have a professional recording of this music, and I’m super proud to share it with you.

Below are the music videos I put together for Geselekh (Yiddish for “little streets”) and Yankele (a Yiddish lullaby) featuring Ismail Butera on accordion and Amy Griffiths on clarinet.

Special thanks to Soundworks Recording Studio, Metropolitan Klezmer, Blessed Unrest, Teatri Oda, and the entire Refuge team.

Actors’ Equity Announcement — August 2019

I’m super excited to announce that as of August 14, I am officially a member of Actors’ Equity. Thanks to a quick gig earlier this month with Connecticut Free Shakespeare, I was able to get the final two points needed in order to join. I’m eager to experience the audition circuit anew and kick off this fall season as an AEA member.

Brontosaurus Haircut Productions’ Convention — June 2019

Convention poster artwork

Convention is back! A year and a half ago, we did a one night only performance of Danny Rocco’s innovative play at Atlantic Theater Company. Now we are doing a month-long run at the beautiful Irondale Theater in June.

The play, produced by Brontosaurus Haircut and directed by Shannon Fillion, puts the audience in the middle of the 1944 Democratic National Convention. The epic script is composed like an orchestral score — 27 actors playing perfectly timed-out scenes across five different playing spaces. I’m excited to return to the character of Robert W. Kenny, Attorney General of California for this one-of-a-kind, completely immersive experience.

Blessed Unrest and Teatri Oda's Refuge — April 2019

Refuge poster artwork

I’m thrilled to be joining forces yet again with Blessed Unrest for the World Premiere production of Refuge, this time with their close collaborators Teatri Oda from Kosovo.

NYC-based Blessed Unrest teams up with Teatri Oda for their third original piece since 2005. The virtually unknown story of Albanians risking everything to protect thousands of Jewish World War II refugees is both a reminder of the best of human nature and a call to action. Despite Nazi occupation, not one Jew was taken to a concentration camp from Albania, and it was the only country in Europe with more Jews at the end of the war than at the beginning. Refuge shines light on this little-known history with the current backdrop of the refugee crisis in Europe and our own nation’s attempts to close our doors to refugees and migrants. Running at Baruch Performing Arts Center, Refuge is written by Matt Opatrny, Florent Mehmeti, and the Ensemble and directed by Jessica Burr & Florent Mehmeti.

Gruff! The Musical Cast Album — November 2017

The cast album for Gruff! The Musical  is now available! Give a listen below. Gruff! is an interactive, family-friendly reinvention of The Three Billy Goats Gruff, which calls audiences to action in the fight against climate change. I was lucky enough to be a part of it last spring. My character Mavis, an elderly goat, is featured the most in tracks (2) Nothing Could Stop Us and (6) Trip Trop Trio, but the whole album is a treat. I absolutely loved recording this, and I hope you enjoy these delightful tunes as much as I do.

Cannibal Galaxy: a love story Fundraiser — November 2017

Jenn Haltman and I are beyond thrilled to be in pre-production for our next project with Between Two BoroughsCannibal Galaxy: a love story by Charise Greene. An Ensemble Studio Theatre Sloan finalist, Cannibal Galaxy: a love story was developed by Fault Line Theatre at Xavier University, where the world premiere was produced in September of 2017 (to rave reviews!) prior to our planned New York premiere in 2018.

We believe that art is a powerful tool for change, and given our country’s current climate of violence, we are eager to bring people together and reflect upon what has become a national epidemic. The recent tragedy in Las Vegas only further underscores our need to produce this play. With each violent act that occurs on our soil, we are reminded how terrifyingly important it is to tell this story right now.

In order to do this play justice and share it with a New York audience, we are fundraising via Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization through which we are now fiscally sponsored. This means we can receive tax-deductible donations! Please view our fundraising video above, and consider making a contribution today!

Brontosaurus Haircut's Convention — September 2017

Convention logo

On September 25th, I had the honor of performing in Danny Rocco's new play, Convention, directed by Shannon Fillion, with their company Brontosaurus Haircut. It was a one night only performance at the Linda Gross Theater presented through the Evening Conservatory at Atlantic Theater Company. It was produced there back in July, and they were given the opportunity to remount it, now with an Act II. The play is about the 1944 Democratic National Convention, includes a company of 40 actors, and is a surround-sound experience with scenes happening all throughout the space. At the same time. I played Robert W. Kenny, Attorney General of California. The house was packed, the performance was such a thrill, and I truly hope there's a future for this brilliant, innovative play.

Sharon Playhouse's The Music Man — August 2017

The Music Man poster artwork featuring a pool table in black and white with a red ball on top

I'm eager to spend my summer up in Sharon, CT to perform in The Music Man at Sharon Playhouse. I'll be playing Alma Hix and a traveling saleswoman. Directed by Morgan Green, the story of a conman who warms his way into the heart of  small town America has never been more relevant. Celebrate the 60th anniversary of this classic show by joining us in August. Here's the press release.

Fairfield Theatre Company's Big River — June 2017

Big River poster artwork

After Gruff! the Musical came to a close, I dove right into rehearsals for Big River. Starring the winner of "The Voice" Season 1, Javier Colon, the production is co-directed by Kirby and Bev Ward. I'll be wearing multiple hats playing Miss Watson, Ben Rogers, and Joanna Wilkes. We threw this whole thing together in two weeks, and the cast is absolutely stellar. If you've been craving some bluegrass, country, or gospel music,  you gotta hear these musicians. Check out the press release here.

Doppelskope's Gruff! The Musical — April 2017

I'm so psyched to be a part of Doppelskope's NYC premiere of Gruff!, an interactive, family-friendly reinvention of The Three Billy Goats Gruff, which calls audiences to action in the fight against climate change. It's packed with puppetry, physical comedy, magical laser effects, and catchy songs. So if you've ever wanted to see me play an elderly goat or puppeteer a troll in a musical about environmental sustainability, the time is now. Check us out at the PIT on Sundays in April and May. Concept and Text by Ora Fruchter and Chris Scheer, Music by Toby Singer, and Directed by Ora Fruchter.

I'm thrilled to announce that I'm making my Blessed Unrest debut in A Christmas Carol this month at the New Ohio Theatre. Adapted by Matt Opatrny from the story by Charles Dickens and directed and choreographed by Jessica Burr, six actors play 37 characters in this dark retelling of the Dickens classic (a few of mine include Fred, Fan, and none other than Tiny Tim). The reviews are raves so far. Check out the scoop on BroadwayWorld, Blogcritics, or TheaterScene, and watch our teaser video. Come join us at the New Ohio, and get in the holiday spirit!
